Alex and I wanted to play around with a kind of twilight (no, not that one LOL), vintage feel to some woodland photos. Alex lives in a great spot that has a heavily wooded area with some small pond like spots. I LOVE the dress with the Chuck Taylor's. To me it really just accentuates that time between becoming a girly girl and hanging onto being a Tomboy and really shows my daughter's personality that she can climb trees with the boys and turn around and play dress up. The youngest and only girl she has had to have a foot in both worlds for a long time.
I used Windows to work on editing these pictures. I obviously need a lot of practice but I am really happy with how these shots came out.

May 5, 2012 Super Moon and Night Photography
Tonight the focus was on the "super moon" and also practicing with night photography and then on a whim I started shooting on monochrome. That will be my focus this week.
The next two shots are from the city scene below us. We were camped out on top of a hill to get the best views of the moon coming over the mountains. I adjusted the focus manually and blurred the shots until just the spots appeared. They are headlights, a stop light and lights from local businesses that surround this particular intersection.
May 5, 2012 Charlotte, Vermont
I love all of the covered bridges in Vermont. This one is located in Charlotte.
This was a tough shot for me because this little bird was quite a distance away and I only have a 55-250mm lens. I cropped them, but wish I was able to get true close-up shots.
I love exploring ways to bring something into focus and blurring the background. This little dandelion seemed like such a good subject for that.
These next two shots are my favorites of the day. I love the shimmering water against the lush green backdrop. The water appears to be "overexposed" and I did do some highlighting in Picasa. In general I am thrilled with how they came out, but I need to learn to use my post processing software in a way that truly enhances the photos I take.
This little guy was way too far away to do much but I loved the background and the contrast between his coloring and the field.

April 12, 2012 The Mill
The falls near the Champlain Mill on the Winooski River.
This is one of my favorite shots of the day.
The teenager decided to meet me after class and "assist" me in carrying my gear. He was all too happy to be a model for me as well :-) I love that!
This is another favorite of the day. I love the detail.

March 23, 2012 River Cove Road
This knot in the tree had us all fascinated for quite some time. It is natural beauty!

The Giant makes a great model.
The Giant makes a great model.
Over exposed but I love the "gotcha" look that I was able to catch.
Mr. looks far too serious here. I think he was trying to look regal LOL
These geese were so funny to watch.
